Job Description

Primary ObjectiveTo design, promote and maintain an employee driven proactive safety culture throughout all IAS locations that ensures ongoing safety knowledge, training, attitude and work habits for all employees and customers.

 

Major Accountabilities:

The following duties are typical for this job.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety & compliance programs.
  • Coordinate and perform internal audits to test and maintain compliance with established laws, regulations, and policies (DNR, DOT, EPA, OSHA, state, county, etc.).
  • Coordinate all health & safety related training for new and existing employees; maintain safety training records for all employees.
  • Maintain any relationships with safety & compliance consultants; incorporate their services & training opportunities and follow up on their location audits.
  • Communicate and follow up on corrective actions needed per property and worker’s comp insurance audits.
  • Coordinate location safety inspections and make recommendations to location managers for physical hazards.
  •  Administer, maintain, and monitor a safe driving program; monitor company CSA 2010 rating; coordinate with HR on DOT driver file requirements.
  • Manage oversight of Contractor Safety Program; audit signed agreements and insurance documentation from contractors.
  • Research new industry safety & compliance regulations, technology, equipment, trends, and related incidents; educate management of discoveries.   
  • Support Regional Operations Managers/Location Managers in safety process and procedure implementation.
  • Coordinate accident investigations for all employee injuries, vehicle accidents, liability claims, and near misses; review with VP, Operations for corrective actions.
  • Develop and distribute safety education materials for monthly location safety meetings; contribute to periodicals (IAS Insights, Ag Biz newsletter, website).
  • Develop/maintain a safety dashboard that measures safety & compliance related performance of locations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent of education, experience, and/or safety certification.
  • General computer literacy and knowledge/skills with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form.
  • Ability to organize, deal with changes effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.

 

Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:

  • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds.  Also, flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.  Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
