Job Description

The Banquet Service Manager will assist Director of Banquet Services with various tasks and will run and manage a large number of PIER SIXTY.  LIGHTHOUSE and CURRENT events.  They will have direct interaction with all departments and several clients and guests.  The Banquet Service Manager position is an intricate part of insuring the guests’ experience to be of the highest level of excellence.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  1. Serve as a banquet event manager during functions run by the Director of Banquet Services.
  2. Serve as liaison between client and PIER SIXTY, LIGHTHOUSE and CURRENT during event set-ups.
  3. Design floor plans for various types of set-ups.
  4. Perform various administrative functions, including payroll, maintaining employee files, maintaining associate incentive programs, organizing staff manuals.
  5. Hire, coach & counsel and conduct performance evaluations of staff.
  6. Develop, train and mentor staff and act as a resource to them.
  7. Conduct server training classes including new hire server training, annual server retraining and TIPS training.
  8. Run and manage assigned events, including meeting with social clients 6-8 weeks prior to event to plan function, presenting event to managers during BEO Meeting, coordinating all event day operations, managing flow of event from beginning to end. 
  9. Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues.
  10. Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.
  11. Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  12. Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures
  13. Follow the sign in and out procedure for keys.
  14. Know and follow all Pier Sixty emergency and safety procedures.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least four years of food & beverage / restaurant experience, including two years of Banquet Service management
  • Must have good food and beverage knowledge, and a very high level of Banquet Service experience.  
  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task, and coordinate all aspects of an event
  • Ability to communicate effectively with associates, management, clients and vendors if necessary.
  • Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal direction, problem solve, trouble shoot, effectively prioritize work, and accurately meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products, specifically Word and Excel.  Knowledge of Delphi Program.
