Based at our Allentown Corporate Office, you will  beresponsible for catering sales growth within designated region’s restaurants.  The position is responsible for growing sales primarily through their own efforts as well as positively influencing operators to enable them to generate sales of their own. The Catering Sales Manager’s sales focus is mainly aimed to acquire, maintain, and grow orders and catering accounts. 


Essential Functions

  • Works with Senior Catering Sales Manager to develop and implement a sales plan for the restaurants within assigned region with goals and strategies. 
  • Prospects for new business through cold calls via phone and in person as well as uncovering potential sales from existing customer data base.  Focuses on canvassing.  Consistently works to build and develop partnerships with corporate office team and operations partners as the foundation for success of LVRG’s catering business.
  • Execute tactical elements of sales scripts that are consistent with the brand culture, sales training and telephone work required to increase catering sales within assigned demographic regions.
  • Sets up in-person presentations for groups of prospective customers, to provide taste testing of our product with the goal of acquiring their business.
  • Follows up timely on all leads from their own efforts as well as leads forwarded by operators, peers, Senior Catering Sales Manager, Director of Catering, etc.
  • Stays up to date and follows market events and trends to identify sales opportunities.
  • Influences a catering sales mindset within LVRG, especially with Sr. Catering/Sales Coordinators and Catering Coordinators. Prospects and talks to customers about catering in the restaurants while positively influencing team members to identify catering prospects and talk about catering on their own.   
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Travels within assigned region as needed and/or as directed by the Senior Catering Sales Manager. 
  • Ensures timely compliance with all policies and guidelines provided by the company with regards to menu specifications, pricing, discounting, promotional items, expense management and any other relevant guidelines and policies in place.
  • Regional level coordination of catering orders that provides flawless execution of pick-up and delivery orders to catering customers.
  • Responsible for overseeing the entire order from preparation to the distribution process through regular check ins with restaurant Senior Catering/Sales Coordinators and Catering Coordinators.
  • Communication with Restaurant Managers, Delivery Drivers and Team Members to provide quality products with a quick and safe delivery that exceeds our customers’ expectations.
  • Oversee off-premises delivery of food orders to catering customers.  Ensures Catering Coordinators and Delivery Drivers are exhibiting a courteous and helpful demeanor with a sense of urgency for customer’s needs.
  • Verifies and confirms customer orders to ensure that all items are prepared accurately and on a timely basis. 
  • Responsible for timely completion of administrative duties such as completion of vendor forms, contracts, follows up on house accounts, gathering lead lists, etc.
  • Keep current and accurate notes within CRM to provide visibility and maintain customer database.
  • The Catering Sales Manager is also a brand ambassador and therefore has to represent the LVRG- Red Robin brand at all times.  

Job Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required.
  • A consistent demonstration of sales growth exceeding expectations.
  • Expertly trained in a proven sales system.
  • A minimum requirement of 3 years of outside sales experience growing sales through own efforts, including prospecting, cold calling and growing existing customer base.
  • Must be proficient and have experience working with Outlook, Microsoft (specifically Excel), utilizing the internet to search for leads, etc.
  • Must have experience using a CRM tool or similar sales tracking, and have the ability to quickly adapt to our web based sales tool.
  • Previous experience in a similar position or in the restaurant business is helpful but not required.
  • Master of prospecting.  Must be able to effectively ask fact-finding questions both in person and via phone to uncover potential from all prospects and customers.
  • Business minded, able to identify opportunities while consistently prioritizing business needs.
  • Excellent presentation skills, able to present to groups of multiple customers.
  • This position is in constant verbal and written communication externally and internally. They must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Experience building positive alliances.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multifunctional teams.
  • Experience in marketing a consumer product or service within an industry that demands speed, flexibility, and fast turnarounds.
  • Great problem solving skills. Resourceful.
  • Adaptable to change. Has the ability to adjust their plan to meet changing business trends and needs.
  • Takes ownership.  Proactively seeks opportunities to learn about our products and business. Able to self-evaluate, identify own development needs and actively pursue improvements where needed.
  • Experience in B2B selling.
  • Ability to effectively manage their time and autonomy. Highly accountable and responsive.
  • Excellent organizational skills are a must. This candidate must be able to timely organize their plan and priorities on a consistent basis, as well as follow up timely on all business related matters with little or no supervision.
  • Must be a positive catering role model for all internal customers and possess the highest professional ethics and integrity.
  • Must be proficient in Delivery Driver, Catering Coordinator and Senior Catering/Sales Coordinator positions and execute the responsibilities of these positions as needed.
  • Must be able to utilize social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
