Job Description

Job Summary:           Responsible for overall maintenance of Pier Sixty and the Lighthouse. The Director of Engineering is responsible for setting guidelines, procedures and systems.

 

Qualifications:

-            Minimum of 4 years management experience in Property Operations, Engineering, or Facility maintenance within a hotel, catering venue, country club or equivalent environment.

-             Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from College or any other combination of education training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

-             Knowledge of carpentry skills, I.e. Framing, Sheet rock, cabinetry

-             Knowledge of electric

-             Knowledge of maintenance including painting, plumbing etc.

-             FSD certification preferred.

-             Ability to develop budgets and five year capital plans

-             Project Management

 -         Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel and Word 

-          Ability to communicate effectively with all other departments regarding needs to insure that the product is up to Pier Sixty’s standards of quality

-          Ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers, some who may require a high level of patience, tact, and diplomacy, in order to diffuse anger and obtain information to resolve problems quickly

-          Ability to create a productive, efficient, and enjoyable work environment by motivating staff, implementing new procedures, generating new ideas, and instilling values of company within the team

-          Ability to multi task and handle numerous projects at once.

-          Ability to delegate workload evenly among associates.

-          Strong attention to detail skills.  Ability to notice and recognize incorrect details related to the facility and insures that projects are completed up to Abigail Kirsch Standards.

-          Basic knowledge of plumbing to be able to handle any problems that arise.

-          Ability to communicate effectively with associates management, clients and vendors if necessary.

-          Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.

 

Skills & Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

 

1.       Perform daily walk-through of facility to determine problem areas and insure that we are performing regular preventative maintenance

2.       Interview and recruit maintenance associates.

3.       Training and development of maintenance associates.

4.       Management of service contracts for both front of the house and back of the house.

5.       Oversee preventative maintenance programs for both front of the house and back of the house equipment.

6.       Preventative maintenance of all Pier Sixty vehicles including, but not limited to, trucks and golf carts.

7.       Management of R&M budget.

8.       Supervise and provide hands on support for maintenance staff which includes providing detailed task lists, work order forms, following up on delegated projects and insuring quality of work product

9.       Oversee all Capital Projects.

10.    Meet with production teams in advance to set guidelines, and fulfill electrical needs

11.    Oversee emergency procedure programs including fire safety program..

12.    Other responsibilities as designated by General Manager

13.    Set standards and prioritize work, setting daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance schedules

14.    Maintain all house equipment such as Genie lifts, ladders, tools

15.    Complete daily notes to be reviewed at weekly meetings, involving conditions, problems, suggestions for increased efficiency and new ideas.

16.    Communicate with Chelsea Piers Maintenance Department regarding issues related to facility maintenance.

17.    Member of Steering Committee.

18.    Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.

19.    Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures

20.    Follow the sign in and out procedure for keys.

21.    Know and follow all  Pier Sixty emergency and safety procedures.

22.    Travel as necessary to different properties/venues

23.    Develop train and mentor staff and act as a resource to them.

24.    Conduct monthly departmental meeting

25.    Hire, coach & council and conduct performance evaluations of staff.

26.    Perform all reasonable requests by management team.
