Job Description

Based out of our Home Office in Greenwood Village, CO The Business Solution Architect (BSA) at Red Robin is the primary focal point in which business needs meet technological services. This role provides recommendations and insights that frame thinking, inform decisions and fuel business growth. Supporting and advising the Business Relationship Director (BRD), the Business Solutions Architect is responsible for understanding in-depth business requirements, operations, trends and the current technologies that enable them.
The BSA oversees the lifecycle of service enablement including Strategy, Design, Implementation and Operationalization. A BSA must be able to successfully identify technology solutions for desired business outcomes so that service providers can successfully meet their business stakeholders’ ultimate strategic goals. This role is essential to the organization’s innovation efforts and requires helping the business integrate innovative technologies into the existing technology stack as well as the development of new technologies. 


• Works with the BRD to engage business stakeholders to develop detailed requirements
• Understands IT’s business customer’s strategic direction and goals; supports BRD by providing domain specific strategies
• Identifies and evaluates competing service offerings from outside of IT
• Establishes and maintains a mapping of applications and technologies to the customer’s capabilities
• Supports the BRD in building the business case for the strategic investment needs in the annual operational planning process
• Communicates service capabilities and priorities to service teams
• Engages Red Robin’s Business Relationship Directors (BRDs) and leadership to understand Red Robin’s strategic direction and goals to create and manage the Enterprise Business Capabilities catalog and Enterprise Roadmap
• Represents initiatives before the Enterprise Architecture Review Board as required
• Tracks application and technology portfolios throughout operation through decommissioning
• Facilitates business improvement by developing collaborative relationships with business partners to understand detailed functional and non-functional needs for technology services
• Provides support to translate business needs and plans into capacity and performance requirements for services and IT infrastructure, and to ensure that future capacity and performance needs can be fulfilled
• Defines and implements communication protocols to support incident resolution with stakeholders, Team Members and Guests
• Provides support to ensure that the BRD continues to understand the needs of existing stakeholders
• Supports the BRD in maintaining the stakeholder Portfolio of systems and capabilities
• Provides support to understand and document the desired outcome of a service, and to decide if the stakeholder's need can be fulfilled using an existing service offering or if a new or changed service must be created
• Collaborates with the Business Relationship Director to identify new service changes
• When a new service is required, the BSA meets with the stakeholder(s) to document existing business processes, develop user stories, confirm data and user interface requirements, develop a testing strategy with approved acceptance criteria and outlines business performance objectives for the new service
• Provides support to manage the service portfolio. Service Portfolio Management ensures that the service provider has the right mix of services to meet required business outcomes at an appropriate level of investment.
• Provides support to assess a proposed major change before authorizing the Change Planning, Build and Deployment phases
• Provides support to assess a major Change after it has been implemented, to verify if the Change has met its objectives (functional and non-functional) and to identify any lessons to be learned.
• Supports project managers and provides visibility into technology risks and constraints
• Works with QA teams to develop test strategies, plans, scripts and acceptance criteria to validate the completeness of desired business requirements; leads functionality testing where necessary; oversees release planning and execution prior to deployment
• Provides support to gather, analyze, store and share knowledge and information within Red Robin IT; promotes structured knowledge management practices and knowledge distribution across the enterprise
• Fulfills the Product Owner role for specified domain(s) in the scrum team
• Manages and develops Business Analysts who also serve as product owners within the scrum team• If QA resources are not available, executes the function as outlined for the QA team to develop test plans, lead and perform the functional testing
• Other duties assigned


• Required:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field
o 3-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Business/Solutions Architect with comfort operating in standard software lifecycle development or IT service management functions
o 2+ years’ experience with SaaS or hosted technology integration management AND/OR
o 2+ years’ experience with custom software development
o Experience leading technology or business professionals to meet specific value objectives
o Experience working across multiple domains with various executive stakeholders
• Preferred:
o Restaurant, hospitality and/or retail industry experience
o Experience in any/all of the following business domains: marketing, loyalty, customer experience, customer relations, consumer insights, menu management
o Experience working in an Agile scrum environment
o Certified Agile Product Owner
o Certified Agile Scrum Master
