This is such an exciting time to join Sovos.  We are growing both organically and through acquisition and we aren’t stopping anytime soon.  This exciting growth has led to expansion across our Accounting teams, both through the addition of people and processes.  We know the challenges of growth, and how important it is to have the right people working for you and the right processes in place to allow for continuity and scalability.   The person that we hire into this role is going to make their mark on both – by adding the right talent to the North American team and by auditing and implementing processes that will allow our accounting processes to scale effectively.  You will be responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.  They will oversee the timely monthly close of the General Ledger, consolidation and reporting of financial results, coordination of audits, and the development of and compliance to internal controls. It’s a highly visible role in a highly visible part of our organization!   

What are my responsibilities going to be, more specifically?

  • Maintain the company's overall system of accounts, books and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Manage company’s daily cash flow
  • Assist with formulating the financial objectives and policies of the company and then prepare reports that outline the company's progress towards those objectives and financial position in terms of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
  • Reviews and documents significant variances from budget and forecast.   Identify potential risk areas for the business
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes and regulations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely financials are in compliance with US GAAP standards with adherence to tight closing calendar.  Identifies any areas of concern in financials for investigation and resolves
  • Ensures financial accounts are properly supported and reconciled.
  • Reviews and ensures timely completion of internal financials, bank financials and board packages
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring compliance to internal controls.
  • Manages and improves weekly reporting
  • Reviews and ensures accurate and timely computation and payment of payroll, commissions, and expenses
  • Full coordination of audit and the gathering of required audit information, preparation of financial statements and footnotes, and preparation of tax accounts
  • Directs the daily activities and the career development of team members. Be aware of, and comply with, all corporate policies

 What We Need From You:

  • Strong and broad experience in accounting and ability to apply strong GAAP knowledge to business scenarios
  • A high level of initiative and drive. Natural sense of ownership for projects and duties
  • Communication skills for credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
  • CPA
  • Experience in a management or leadership role
  • Exposure to software revenue recognition a plus
  • English, Spanish and Portuguese (plus) communication skills. 
  • Experience producing financials satements
