 Responsibilities:
 
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the employee health, welfare, retirement, and immigration benefit programs for the company and its employees. The Benefits Specialist serves as a resource for employee and human resources personnel for all benefit programs; as well as serving as the primary liaison with vendors. In addition, the Benefits Specialist coordinates all leaves of absence and the company’s immigration program, following all state and federal laws. The essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Directly responsible for the overall administration of employee benefits program as it relates to medical benefits, retirement benefits, and wellness for an international company
  • Administer 401k Plan according to plan specifications including enrollment process, eligibility, plan loans and distribution processing
  • Responsible for leave management, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and Workers Comp
  • Administer the company’s immigration program and policies
  • Manage relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, and vendors; administering contracts and participating in strategic decision process with vendors
  • Point of contact for employees and HR for questions and issues regarding benefits
  • Complete required annual compliance reporting
  • Ensure employee benefit deductions, and file feeds to vendors, are entered and accurate
  • Assist in other areas of HR and perform special projects as assigned by the SVP of Human Resources

 

Required Skills/ Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or three to 5 years of equivalent HR related experience
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to benefits regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA and ACA compliance
  • Experience in administering various state and federal leave programs such as FMLA/CFRA, PFL, PDL, and SDI
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency of MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work well in fast-paced results-driven environment with competing demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on tact and confidentiality
