Job Description

Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group is seeking talented Banquet Event Servers to join the team of Marta!


The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality, is committed to the guest experience and has great work ethic.  This is a Part-time position with steady shifts available.  

Open availability preferred but schedules are flexible.  Previous bartending experience is a plus!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set-Up and Break-Down
    • Attend pre-shift meeting
    • Thoroughly read BEO
    • Complete all opening, continuous and closing side work
    • Assist with carefully moving furniture to the specifications of the floorplan as needed
    • Set-up buffet tables and extra bars
    • Steam linen as needed
    • Assist with any trash breakdown at the end of the night
    • Assist with china and glassware organization
  • Greeting Guests-Lobby & Terrace
    • Act as host or coat check as needed according to COS
  • Taking guests orders
    • Communicate offerings to guests and take food and beverage orders according to COS
  • Food Service
    • Pass hors d'oeuvres and bus
    • Run food to the appropriate table and seat numbers
    • Follow cycle of service steps
    • Resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction
    • Clear dirty china, silver and glassware then clean and organize at dish station
    • Set up food stations
  • Beverage Service
    • Pass and bus beverages
    • Take orders for and retrieve alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guests
    • Abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
    • Open and serve beer, wine, and champagne bottles
    • Set-up, monitor and refresh coffee service as needed
  • Other Tasks
    • Check in and out at the beginning and end of your shift
    • Attend all staff  meetings
    • Perform any other duties as requested by manager

    • Detailed knowledge of the food offerings including ingredients, sources, preparation methods, possible limitations, and allergens
    • Ability to visually identify items and ingredients
  • Beverage Knowledge
    • Detailed knowledge of the beverage offerings including ingredients, sources, preparation methods, limitations, and allergens
    • Understanding of bar setup and equipment, ability to make specialty and classic cocktails
  • Organization
    • Perform job functions with precision, speed, and accuracy
    • Prioritize the minute details of service appropriately, and adapt to constantly changing priorities
    • Maintain composure and remain calm under pressure, resolve problems using good judgment
    • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment
    • Maintain complete knowledge of proper use and  maintenance of equipment
  • Service Knowledge
    • Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements
    • Complete and detailed understanding of all cycles of service including ability to appropriately improvise with changing conditions
