Be the first in making a meaningful impact as an Executive Pastry Chef at the Thompson Hotel in DC!

 

Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!


This position is responsible for all production, execution and distribution of pastry, baking and selected savory production within the Thompson Hotel, including a Restaurant, a Lobby Bar, Banquets and Rooftop Operations. They oversee the Pastry department, which includes menu and recipe development with support and oversight from USHG’s Director of Culinary Operations, coordinating kitchen logistics, managing kitchen staff and inventory.

  • Ensure rigorous knowledge of and adherence to all applicable laws, policies and procedures
  • 5+ years of experience as Pastry Chef of restaurant or hotel property
  • Excellent working knowledge of Italian cuisine and current dessert trends
  • Strong Computer Skills ( Microsoft Office, Delphi, CaterXpert preferred)
  • NYC Food Handler’s Certificate 
  • English
  • Spanish (preferred)
