Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!

Banquet Prep Cooks provide operational culinary support for all catering events at the Conrad New York. Under the supervision of Senior Culinary leadership, Banquet Cooks will support all functions by successfully executing food production, organizing and distributing meals to the Front-of-House Banquet team. The role of Banquet Cook requires organization, consistency, and follow through with a willingness to learn and work in a team setting, in order to deliver an exceptional product that exceeds guest and client expectation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate consistency in cooking methods, quality standards and employee guidelines
  • Effectively open and close physical kitchen, set up and breakdown production while maintaining a clean BOH
  • Prep/ Production of food items assigned under daily prep lists
  • Execution of events including but not limited to buffets, plated functions, cocktail receptions, coffee breaks
  • Provide accurate counts of all mise en place for banquet functions
  • Ensure all mise en place is following guidelines and recipes
  • Accurately follow established locations and times for food pick up 
  • Proper disposal and storage of excess food from various banquet events
  • Understand and adhere to all USE procedures as it pertains to personal appearance, attendance and conduct
  • Ensure all products are stored and rotated according to FIFO procedures
  • Adhere DOL and DOH safety and sanitation compliance as it pertains to the operation

  • NYC Food Handler's Certificate
  • TIPS Certification (preferred)
  • CPR/1st Aid Certified (preferred)
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the kitchen, including food and beverage areas
  • Requires mobility, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
