Union Square Hospitality Group is seeking a Staff Accountant - AR to join the team!

Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!

The Staff Accountant - AR is responsible for preparing daily flash sales report, reconciling cash sales to point of sales report and preparing and importing weekly close entries among other important procedures. This individual will work hand in hand with our unit Business Leaders and all members of our Finance and Accounting team. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, results-oriented, and extremely detail oriented.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare and distribute daily sales reports comprising of sales, covers, and labor costs (35%)
  • Reconcile bank activity on a weekly basis across business units (15%)
  • Prepare and post week-end close journal entries in ERP (15%)
  • Assist with month-end close process including balance sheet reconciliation of direct bill accounts and private dining payments and safe counts (5%)
  • Ad hoc analysis, maintain open lines of communication with accounting and restaurants’ operations teams (30%)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Accounting, Tax or Finance required
  • Accounting or Finance degree preferred
  • Restaurant bookkeeping experience is preferred
  • Sage 100 knowledge a plus
