Hands-on agile coaches able to embed with teams and provide all required coaching support to drive team maturity: embody agile principles, embed best practices, measure and improve agile maturity, identify and raise obstacles, and provide one-on-one and team coaching of ceremonies, artifacts, processes and practices.  Interacts with engineers and engineering management.

Expected coach responsibilities:

  • Uphold and reinforce SumTotal's Agile Operating Model principles, terminology and best practices
  • Enable the organization's new way of working through hands-on coaching of Pilot teams, including technology and business participants at all levels of the organization
  • Engage with Agile teams and coach them through a journey of Agile adoption. Take immature Agile teams and teach the skills and practices to develop self-sufficiency and maturity.
  • Hands-on coaching and teaching for new teams - including how to perform key Agile ceremonies such as planning sessions and daily stand-ups and how to effectively utilize Agile artifacts such as product backlogs
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement within each team Establish self-sufficient coaching expertise and support within SumTotal
  • Observe and engage with individual team members to identify opportunities to improve Agile performance
  • Providing ongoing training and resources to equip team members with practices to enhance their Agile maturity
  • Provide continuous feedback on the SumTotal operating model and practices from both prior experience and observations from ongoing implementation and coaching

Coach experience:

  • Experience in coaching Agile teams through the adoption of agile practices in multiple prior engagements
  • Experience in one or more large scale Agile transformation programs
  • Deep background in coaching and developing people and teams, influencing behavior change and establishing sustainability through cultural change
  • Experience coaching agile teams in product/technology companies, aligning teams with product management in order to drive value

Coach characteristics:

  • Is a strong change agent and can influence mind-set and behaviors, including those of senior leaders
  • Loves coaching and supporting people to adjust to and embrace changes to their ways of working
  • Is passionate about Agile principles and are excited to embed them across the organization
  • Applies innovative and creative thinking in order to solve problems and get things done
  • Is intellectually curious and love learning new skills and capabilities, e.g., Agile principles
  • Is courageous and will be comfortable challenging, advising, and coaching Product Owners, Pilot Leads and Senior Leadership
