Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a Marketing Manager with Union Square Events


Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!

This position will manage marketing efforts across USE’s businesses with strategic guidance from the USHG Marketing/PR team. The Manager will work directly with USE’s Directors to support all businesses, while also working to implement USHG-wide initiatives and systems at USE.  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. USE Brand
    • Ensure brand messaging and aesthetic is standardized and reflected in all brand materials based on established USE brand guidelines.
    • Manage workflow of creative requests from all USE departments.
    • Oversee internal coordination, planning and management of brand photo shoots. Define look/feel with USHG Marketing and create applicable style guidelines and planning tools.
    • Liaise with USHG Marketing to leverage team’s expertise in digital, brand, communications for USE projects.
    • Facilitate creation of print materials, promotional materials and signage, e.g., update content, manage print/promo projects directly with vendors, monitor budget/expenses.

     

  2. Digital Strategy
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive content calendar with marketing applications across USE businesses; help to implement specific marketing applications and campaigns; record and report on results and adapt strategy accordingly to optimize efficacy of marketing efforts.
    • Manage execution and distribution of content across USE’s digital properties – website, blog, social media channels, email, digital advertising.
    • Manage daily social media for USE’s 4+ brands.
    • Develop and implement training to equip employees to provide engaging brand content to Marketing.
    • Track website and social media analytics and provide analysis & updated strategy to improve performance.
    • Manage continual research to build USE into industry leader across all businesses, including social media comp research and brand/content partnership opportunities.

     

  3. Catering Sales, Venue Hospitality and Biz Dev Support
    • Catering: Create and update sales decks, one-off proposals and execute creative requests.
    • Venue Hospitality: Manage the creation of opening packages, visual merchandising standards and associated style guides and supporting documents.

     

  4. General Support
  • Assist with USE promotional events by providing brand representation, on-site assistance, post-event recap.
  • Manage the organization of department photos, logos and other visual assets.
  • Manage USE comp research.
  • Manage internal requests for PR and marketing materials, photo shoots, appearances as needed.

Other Qualifications

Technical:

Exceptional Verbal and Written Communications Skills.

Strong computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office - especially Excel).

Familiarity with social media platforms and growth strategy. Experience with social media management tools like Hootsuite a plus.

Experience with email newsletter platforms like Mailchimp.

Experience running digital ads a plus.

Experience with website CMS preferred.

Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator required.

Language:

Strong grasp of English language and grammar/usage

Experience:

2-4 years Marketing Experience

Hospitality/Food/Retail-related experience preferred

 

Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or comparable experience.

 

Work Environment:

Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.

Requires schedule flexibility and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.

Must be willing to be reachable and on email outside of regular business hours.
