Job Description

Union Square Events is seeking a Research and Development Cook to join the team!

 

The Research and Development Cook will be responsible for working with the R&D Chef and the R&D team on developing recipes and dishes for future Union Square Events menus.

  • Possesses a general knowledge of food safety and sanitation

Skills/Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in high volume commissary, catering or hotel/ restaurant establishment
  • Ability to record procedure, ingredient weights, final yields, etc. throughout the research and development process.
  • Test and execute recipes based on guidelines and structure provided by R&D chef
  • Assist with recipe development to align production procedures with the needs of each USE business
  • Assist with production and execution at the commissary, events and other USE businesses at the discretion of the R&D chef
  • Proficient knowledge of various cooking techniques

Technical and Education:

Culinary School Degree is a plus

Language:

English, bilingual is a plus

 

Certifications:

NYC Food Handlers certificate (preferred)

Work Environment:

Involves standing for sustained periods of time

Be able to lift and move up to 15 lbs on a regular basis as well as lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed

Involves reaching, bending, stooping, and similar movements
