POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network System Administrator will participate in the day-to-day administration, support, and ongoing enhancement of Menard, Inc.’s enterprise network infrastructure.  Applicants should have experience or training supporting mission-critical network environments, maximizing system uptime, and maintaining performance.  Candidates must be able to work in a secure, mission-critical production-computing environment. The position will be responsible for installing and maintaining networks in corporate, distribution, manufacturing, and retail locations.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Network Maintenance & Support:

  • Participate in the day-to-day maintenance of Menard’s Data/Voice/Video Network
  • Provide technical support to Menard’s corporate staff
  • Identify, investigate, resolve and document problems
  • Monitor network uptime, capacity, and performance
  • Configure and maintain network management systems

* New Systems:

  • Work with Senior Level Team Members to design complex data/voice/video solutions
  • Implement network equipment and management tools.
  • Support all physical cabling, hardware, and network management tools.

* Development:

  • Analyze all aspects of the systems and develop/implement plans to improve items such as utilization, capacity and performance
  • Keep informed and educated on emerging technologies
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies, platforms, protocols and applications in order to meet Menard, Inc.’s business requirements
  • Develop policy and procedure documentation for new and existing systems

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Information Technology or Network related field OR Equivalent work experience
  • Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
  • Ability to successfully negotiate with vendors to provide service to the corporation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
  • Strong proficiency with:
    • Routers and routing protocols (BGP,RIP,EIGRP)
    • Switching and layer 2 technologies
    • Autonomous and controller based wireless
    • IPT and VoIP systems
    • Network security with firewalls and ACLs
    • Secure Authentication with radius, TACACS, and two factor authentication
    • IPsec and SSL VPNs
    • Protocol problem analysis
    • Network monitoring (SNMP, NetFlow)
    • Mobile operating systems (Android, iOS, Windows Mobile)
    • Cabling standards (Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics)
    • Documentation tools (Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD)
  • Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work
  • May be required to work overtime and provide on call support, including weekends and holidays
  • Relocation to Eau Claire, WI is required
