 Orleans Technical College

The Student Success Advisor plays a key role in supporting student retention, satisfaction, and overall success across both day and evening programs. This position provides direct student support, collaborates closely with instructors and staff, and helps ensure students stay on track academically, behaviorally, and vocationally.

Responsibilities: 

  •  Discuss attendance policy with new classes at orientation and any other seminars or workshops before orientation.
  •  Support the Academic Affairs Director in working with students who demonstrate behavior problems and/or who violate school rules and regulations.
  • As necessary, place students on attendance and/or behavioral probations in accordance with school procedure; monitor students’ adherence to the conditions of their probations, and implement progressive discipline as needed.
  • Participate in the school’s Re-Entry Committee, which determines and arranges for the re-enrollment of returning students who were previously unable, for a variety of reasons, to complete their courses of study.
  • Facilitate leaves of absence and transfer of students from day to evening classes (and vice versa) in accordance with school policy; prepare all necessary documents related to leaves of absence and transfers;
  • Work closely with the Admissions Department to ensure that students attend the appropriate workshops.
  • Conduct intake interviews with prospective students to determine appropriateness for training and, if admitted, need for special/supportive services.
  • Support administrative staff at Student/Administrative (Student Council) meetings. Prepare minutes and participate in problem-solving efforts.
  • Process communications regarding student progress from counselors, parole and probation officers, and other agencies (e.g., Department of Welfare) representatives.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.
Skills & Requirements

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in social services agencies
  • Additional college coursework may be equated at the rate of one year of college for one year of experience
  • Candidates must be computer-literate to access and utilize the school's database in monitoring attendance
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and the school database is required for the generation of reports described above.

The base pay for this position ranges from $43,500 to $46,500 and will vary based on factors such as skills and experience.  Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
