Assistant Director of Academic Affairs

Location: Orleans Technical College

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Academic Affairs Director, the Assistant Director, Academic Affairs supports the coordination and administration of academic programs, faculty operations, student academic matters, and instructional quality. This role assists in ensuring compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement across all educational programs at Orleans Technical College.

 

Key Responsibilities

Academic Program Support

  • Assist in the daily operation and coordination of academic programs across day, evening, and weekend schedules.
  • Support implementation of diploma, certificate, and degree programs.
  • Help monitor program performance, student progress, and instructional delivery.

Faculty and Staff Support

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and retention of instructors and academic staff.
  • Assist with faculty development, orientation, mentoring, and instructional training.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback in coordination with the Academic Affairs Director.

Student Academic Support

  • Assist with student academic concerns, attendance issues, grievances, and retention efforts.
  • Support student orientation, academic advisement referrals, and completion tracking.
  • Help promote a positive learning environment and strong student engagement.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance

    • Assist in maintaining compliance with accreditation, licensing, and state regulatory requirements.
    • Support preparation for audits, site visits, reports, and accreditation documentation.
    • Help monitor instructional quality, program consistency, and policy compliance.
  • Scheduling and Operations

    • Assist with class scheduling, instructor assignments, room usage, and academic calendars.
    • Coordinate logistics for staff meetings, training sessions, and academic events.
    • Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to academic operations.
  • Data and Reporting

    • Collect and organize data related to enrollment, attendance, retention, completion, and student outcomes.
    • Assist with preparing reports, summaries, and updates for leadership.
    • Track academic trends and help identify areas for improvement.
  • Partnership and Communication

    • Support communication with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
    • Assist with articulation agreements, employer outreach, and community partnerships as needed.
    • Represent the Academic Affairs department at meetings and events when assigned.
  • Skills & Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education,  Administration, or a related field preferred. Master's degree preferred.  

    • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in education, post-secondary training, or academic administration. Experience supporting faculty, students, or academic programs in a college or training setting. Experience with compliance, reporting, or program coordination preferred.

    • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Good judgment, professionalism, and problem-solving ability. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse staff and students.

    The base pay for this position ranges from $70,000 to $84,000 and will vary based on factors such as skills and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
