Position Summary

The Therapist provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services to individuals experiencing psychiatric symptoms, with a focus on recovery, wellness, and achieving personal goals. This role provides individual, family, and group therapy; conducts assessments and intake evaluations; develops and monitors treatment and recovery plans; provides crisis intervention and outreach; and connects individuals with appropriate internal and external resources.

The Therapist works collaboratively with psychiatrists, clinical staff, families, and community providers to coordinate care and support positive outcomes. This position is also responsible for maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation and ensuring services comply with regulatory, payer, confidentiality, and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

Clinical Services

• Provide individual, family, and group therapy in accordance with established treatment and recovery plans, utilizing evidence-based practices when appropriate.
• Support individuals in identifying their strengths, building hope, developing self-advocacy skills, and working toward personal recovery and life goals.
• Provide education and support related to wellness strategies, medication management, positive thinking, and healthy lifestyle development.
• Assess individuals’ readiness for change, current level of functioning, goals, and available social and environmental supports.
• Develop and implement individualized action plans in collaboration with individuals, families, and other authorized supports.
• Provide telephone and face-to-face outreach to individuals experiencing a crisis or in need of additional support.
• Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support to promote the safety and well-being of individuals and others.
• Assist individuals in accessing additional services, resources, and supports through self-advocacy.
• Provide linkages and referrals to psychiatric services, community resources, and other JEVS programs as appropriate.
• Deliver services in a culturally responsive manner that respects each individual’s dignity, preferences, and background.
• Communicate and coordinate with community mental health centers, medical providers, family members, and other authorized supports while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

Intake & Assessment

• Conduct interviews and assessments with individuals seeking admission to outpatient services to understand their needs, preferences, and appropriate level of care.
• Complete risk assessments as needed.
• Orient new individuals to the program and facilitate the intake and admission process.
• Establish and maintain intake case files and collect required admission data.
• Collaborate with internal JEVS programs and external providers to facilitate appropriate referrals and continuity of care.
• Support the completion of biopsychosocial evaluations and other assessments as required.

Treatment Planning & Documentation

• Develop, write, and monitor individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with the individual and clinical team.
• Participate in progress reviews to evaluate progress toward identified goals and adjust services as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic and/or paper clinical records in accordance with agency, regulatory, payer, and billing requirements.
• Complete required documentation related to services provided, client and collateral contacts, case management activities, and treatment plan updates.
• Prepare discharge summaries and other required clinical documentation.
• Participate as a member of the clinical team and communicate relevant information with psychiatrists, clinical supervisors, and other appropriate staff.

Program Development & Quality

• Meet regularly with the clinical supervisor to develop clinical skills and support ongoing professional development.
• Participate in program planning, quality assurance activities, and evaluation of individual outcomes and satisfaction.
• Evaluate and utilize evidence-based practices, curricula, and materials for group therapy.
• Contribute to program development and other clinical initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable confidentiality, medical record, HIPAA, regulatory, and agency requirements.
• Meet established productivity and performance expectations based on clinical and program requirements.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and Core Principles of JEVS Human Services.

Required Education and Experience

• Meets CBH requirement as a mental health professional.
• Minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline with required coursework and at least two years verified experience in the mental health field.

Special Ongoing Credentialing Requirements:

• Meet and maintain CBH credentialing requirement for criminal history checks and training, including demonstrated competency in evidence based practices.
• Completion of a 12-hour orientation by a certified trainer within one year of hire or program start-up.
• Completion of 18 hours of approved behavioral health training per year.
• Up-to-date resume

• Licensure/certification maintenance as needed

• CBH credentialing application

Compensation

The starting base salary for this position is $60,000 annually. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package offered by JEVS Human Services. We are committed to providing competitive benefits that support our employees both personally and professionally.
