Orleans Technical College is looking for experienced trades professionals to join our team as Part-Time Trades Instructors. This is an opportunity to put your hands-on experience to work by teaching and preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.

We’re looking for individuals with approximately 3 years of professional field experience in their trade who are passionate about sharing their knowledge, skills, and real-world experience with students.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with the curriculum and your area of expertise.
  • Teach students the fundamentals, techniques, tools, and best practices of your trade.
  • Supervise students during hands-on shop activities and provide guidance as they develop their skills.
  • Evaluate student performance through hands-on activities, assignments, and knowledge-based testing.
  • Prepare and adapt instructional materials to support effective learning.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, demonstrations, and media to keep students engaged throughout the class day.
  • Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom by sharing practical knowledge, workplace expectations, and safety practices.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, clean, and organized classroom and shop environment.
  • Monitor student attendance and maintain accurate grade and performance records.
  • Reinforce classroom, shop, and school policies and address concerns appropriately.
  • Coordinate the ordering of supplies and materials needed for instruction.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Approximately 3 years of hands-on professional experience in the applicable trade.
  • Strong knowledge of trade practices, tools, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain technical concepts in a way that students can understand.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safety, professionalism, and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Teaching or training experience is a plus, but not required. We’re looking for skilled tradespeople who are excited to share what they know.
