Job Description


The Coordinator will be an instrumental leader in our safety program, responsible for Grants Pass’ environmental programs, and will provide technical support to the mill to ensure quality standards are being met. Responsible for compliance and maintaining records related to safety/environmental regulations and APA QMS program compliance.


  • Coordinates the Grants Pass Core Safety Group and all associated sub-committee activities.
  • Works closely with the company Safety Director to ensure the Grants Pass team is implementing Company safety goals and objectives.
  • Ensures proper record keeping of safety activities to meet all OHSA requirements.
  • Works with the Company Environmental Director to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws. Implements environmental policies at Grants Pass mill.
  • Maintains all required environmental records for the Grants Pass mill.
  • Performs daily QC activities throughout the plant to monitor quality in all departments.
  • Monitors glue mixes, moisture content, and veneer quality. Coordinates and implements necessary seasonal changes.
  • Leads the “Green Dot Process,” the internal continuous improvement process used in Grants Pass.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates training related to safety, environmental, and quality.
  • Works closely with Sales and Customers to ensure product quality meets customer needs.

Skills & Requirements


  • BA/BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Studies, Operations Management or related field with 3-5 years of related experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for degree. 
  • 3+ years’ experience in Wood Products or other site manufacturing processes preferred. 
  • Computer skills required, including the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.), and the ability to learn and use company specific software, including BasicSafe, as well as others that may be introduced.
  • Safety and Industrial hygiene certification and/or training preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build positive working relationships with hourly and salaried employees across the Company, as well as customers.
  • Requires ability to initiate and manage projects.
