Mason Apprentice

Job Description

The Apprentice Mason supports experienced masons in the construction, repair, and restoration of masonry structures. This position is designed to provide hands-on training while developing the skills necessary to progress toward Journey-level masonry. The apprentice performs physical labor, prepares materials, maintains a safe jobsite, and learns proper masonry techniques under supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         Assist journeyman masons with laying brick, block, stone, and other masonry units

·         Prepare mortar, grout, and other materials according to specifications

·         Transport, stock, and stage materials, tools, and equipment on the jobsite

·         Cut brick, block, and stone using hand and power tools (under supervision)

·         Set up and dismantle scaffolding and jobsite protections

·         Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

·         Follow jobsite safety procedures and company policies at all times

·         Learn proper masonry techniques, tools, and materials

·         Perform general labor duties related to masonry work

·         Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

·         Support quality workmanship by following layout, line, and grade direction

·         Attend apprenticeship training or classroom instruction as required

Required Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED preferred

·         Interest in learning the masonry trade

·         Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs

·         Ability to work at heights on scaffolding or elevated platforms

·         Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced tradespeople

·         Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented

·         Valid driver’s license preferred

Preferred Qualifications

·         Prior construction or labor experience

·         Enrollment in or willingness to join an apprenticeship program

·         OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)

·         Experience using hand and power tools

This position has a pay range of $28.00-$36.00 per hour, depending on experience, in addition to an extensive benefits package that includes company stock, and a profit-sharing bonus.
