Job Description

The Director of Accounting is responsible for direct supervision of all accounting and related treasury functions. Primary responsibilities include oversight of accounting, treasury and management of internal resources. The Director of Accounting is also responsible for supervision of the period and annual close process and oversees general ledger, accounts receivable, treasury, cash management, and assist Sr. Vice President on special projects as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Guides the team in daily accounting and related financial functions.
  • Ensure proper cash management procedures are being followed and reconciled timely.
  • Owns the general ledger and all accounts, primarily responsible for ensuring that financial statements encompass all transactions and activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate period and annual financial close.
  • Assist in preparation of annual financial statements and related footnotes.
  • Responsible for research and documentation of conclusions regarding technical accounting transactions and issues.
  • Develops processes and procedures and maintains a strong control environment to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist with external auditor relationship and coordinates the annual audit process and quarterly compilations
  • Maintain accounting source documentation, procedures, perform and document timely account reconciliations with third party providers and internal team.
  • Ensure payroll is processed properly and reconciled to accounts.
  • Oversees accounting for franchise royalty payments and co-op advertising funds.
  • All other general corporate accounting responsibilities as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree in accounting, CPA and/or graduate degree desirable
  • 10 years of public and /or corporate accounting, 3 years in a related position, restaurant and franchise experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
  • Great Plains experience desirable
  • Strong Excel skills
