Job Summary
The Safety & Compliance Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive safety, health, safeguarding, and compliance audits across assigned centres. This field-based role provides objective oversight of practices and environments serving children from infancy through school age, helping ensure alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and established safety standards.
Reporting to the Director of Safety, Compliance & Safeguarding, this role evaluates both physical environments and operational practices, identifies areas of risk and non-compliance, documents findings, and partners with centre and operational leadership to support timely corrective action. The role also contributes to broader organizational risk identification by ensuring audit findings are accurate, consistent, and actionable.
Success in this role requires strong knowledge of early childhood environments, excellent observational skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to balance independent oversight with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

• Observe daily practices and routines to assess actual implementation of safety and compliance expectations, rather than relying solely on documentation or self-reported practices.
• Identify and accurately classify audit findings based on established risk levels, including conditions requiring immediate correction or escalation.
• Document findings clearly, objectively, and thoroughly, including supporting observations, photographs, records, or other evidence as appropriate.
• Communicate critical or high-risk findings immediately through established escalation protocols.

• Remain alert to conditions, behaviors, practices, or environmental factors that may present a safeguarding concern or increased risk to children.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional discretion when handling sensitive safeguarding information.
• Support a culture in which child safety and well-being remain the primary consideration in decision-making.
Qualifications
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years in early childhood education, licensing, operations, auditing, or related field required.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
• Working knowledge of childcare licensing, health and safety requirements, incident management, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, observations with strong observational, organizational, written communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage an assigned market, and meet established audit and follow-up timelines.
• Proficiency with standard technology, electronic documentation, and data-entry systems.

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and move in a variety of environments for an extended period while conducting center audits and observations.
