The General Manager, Cultivation Operations is responsible for the business and operational performance of cultivation, post-processing, and distribution. This role drives financial and operational performance, resource alignment, accountability, and continuous improvement while partnering with the Head Grower on technical cultivation strategy and Manufacturing, Sales, and Supply Chain to support the needs of the vertically integrated business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (this list is not all inclusive)

Leads the business and operational performance of cultivation, post-processing, and distribution, establishing priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across assigned functions.

Translates cultivation and production plans into labor, staffing, resource, capacity, and operational plans to support production requirements and business objectives.

Manages financial performance, including operating budgets, labor costs, operating expenses, cost per pound, productivity, and budget-to-actual variances.

Maintains oversight of cultivation performance, including production attainment, yield, quality, crop performance, and cycle adherence, partnering with the Head Grower to identify performance gaps and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Technical cultivation strategy and plant-level decisions remain under the direction of the Head Grower.

Provides leadership and performance oversight of post-processing through the Director of Operations, establishing expectations for throughput, productivity, quality, labor efficiency, cost, and product readiness while ensuring day-to-day execution remains appropriately managed.

Partners with the Director of Operations to optimize post-processing workflows, capacity, staffing, and processes, ensuring SOPs and operational standards are consistently maintained and improved.

Provides leadership and performance oversight of distribution, ensuring product movement, inventory transfers, order coordination, transportation, and fulfillment activities are timely, accurate, efficient, and compliant.

Ensures effective product flow from harvest through post-processing, inventory, Manufacturing, Distribution, and other downstream channels, maintaining product readiness, traceability, inventory integrity, and compliance.

Partners with Manufacturing to align cultivation output, biomass availability, inventory, specifications, and timing with manufacturing plans and material requirements.

Partners with Manufacturing, Sales, Supply Chain, Retail, and other business leaders to align production forecasts, inventory requirements, product allocation, and operational priorities across the vertically integrated business.

Establishes and monitors operational KPIs and provides leadership with visibility into production, labor, financial performance, throughput, inventory, capacity, risks, and corrective actions.

Ensures appropriate operational controls, SOPs, and compliance standards are maintained, including METRC, inventory controls, product transfers, transportation documentation, recordkeeping, and audit readiness.

Leads and develops functional leaders and operational teams, establishing clear expectations, measurable objectives, and accountability for performance.

Drives continuous improvement across assigned functions, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve productivity, labor efficiency, throughput, capacity utilization, inventory movement, cost, and operational execution.

Ensures facilities, equipment, labor, transportation resources, supplies, and vendor support are appropriately aligned with operational and production requirements.

Ability to lead through functional leaders, develop teams, establish accountability, and drive performance without unnecessarily managing day-to-day execution.

Strong understanding of budgeting, labor and operating costs, cost per pound, productivity, financial variances, and operational cost drivers.

Ability to evaluate workflows, capacity, labor utilization, and processes to improve efficiency, throughput, scalability, and cost.

Understanding of the dependencies between cultivation, post-processing, manufacturing, distribution, sales, and retail and the ability to align operational priorities across functions.

Ability to use operational, production, labor, inventory, and financial data to evaluate performance, identify risks, and drive corrective action.

Strong understanding of inventory controls, product movement, traceability, reconciliation, fulfillment, and distribution within a regulated environment.

Ability to identify root causes, evaluate business impact, make sound operational decisions, and engage technical expertise when appropriate.

Strong understanding of regulated operations and the ability to maintain consistent processes, controls, documentation, and accountability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered

7+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in a regulated, high-volume environment (cannabis, agriculture, manufacturing, or similar)

This is an on-site position and requires regular physical presence at the assigned work location to effectively lead operations, support teams, monitor performance, and maintain visibility into day-to-day execution. Remote work is not a regular component of this role.
