Job Description

The Surgery Center of Charleston, a division of Charleston ENT & Allergy, is seeking a full-time Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our team.

The Surgery Center of Charleston is an independent, accredited outpatient surgery center that provides high-quality surgical services and comprehensive pre- and post-operative care. Our surgical services include a variety of ENT and cosmetic procedures.

Certified Surgical Technologists play a critical role in supporting the surgical team and ensuring that procedures run efficiently and safely in the operating room.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing operating rooms with the appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeons’ preference cards
  • Inspecting instruments and equipment to ensure proper working condition
  • Maintaining sterile technique and adhering to all operating room policies and procedures
  • Opening sterile supplies and arranging instruments for each procedure
  • Anticipating the needs of the surgeon during procedures and maintaining the availability of instruments and supplies
  • Identifying and reporting breaks in sterile technique and taking appropriate action according to policy
  • Cleaning, caring for, and sterilizing instruments and equipment as directed
  • Assisting with stocking and maintaining operating room supplies
  • Maintaining and updating instrument and surgeon preference cards as needed
  • Documenting patient care information in accordance with facility policies and procedures
  • Communicating effectively with the surgical team to support patient care throughout the procedure

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
  • Minimum of two years of operating room experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
