Responsibilities

  • Develop work plans and man-hour budgets
  • Monitor project schedules and capital cost budgets
  • Prepare and review advanced engineering designs and technical data
  • Ensure quality control and assurance for all projects
  • Achieve goals for profit, productivity, and deliverables
  • Formulate and coordinate proposals with Marketing and Business Development
  • Identify project teams, work packages, tasks, and productivity targets
  • Conduct team meetings to ensure adherence to project review and approval procedures
  • Negotiate scope changes with clients, pending supervisor approval
  • Communicate effectively with project team members to ensure high utilization rates
  • Review monthly man-hour and cost reports to meet project goals
  • Ensure compliance with project planning and profit control procedures
  • Discuss scope revisions with clients affecting schedules or budgets
  • Collaborate with Department Managers to resolve technical issues
  • Work with the Billing Department to authorize and send bills and follow up on payments
  • Mentor junior staff in technical and business practices
  • Attend evening council or planning board meetings as needed

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering design (municipal projects preferred).
  • Knowledge of all aspects of municipal engineering, including capital project design, stormwater management, utility design, cost estimating, construction administration, and land use.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects.
  • Experience managing and supervising assigned staff's work efforts regarding project scope, schedule, quality and budget.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
