Job Description

Congregation Beth Hatikvah (Summit, NJ) seeks an organized, upbeat, and welcoming part-time Synagogue Administrator to be a vital member of our collaborative team and help foster our vibrant, joyful 30-year-old community. We are eager to find the right candidate who can be a team player, as well as look to both the big picture and assist with daily tasks. The ideal candidate will help lead our community as well as be ready to step in when necessary to keep our community thriving and growing. The position encompasses a wide range of duties including management, supporting our community, marketing, as well as being the first point of contact.

Essential Job Functions

  • Warm, creative and positive individual
  • Ability to work independently
  • Overseeing the functions of the synagogue
    • Building management
    • Maintaining the calendar
    • First point of contact for members, prospective members, shared space contacts and vendors
  • Office assistance for the Rabbi, Board Members and Religious School
    • Maintaining lists such as healing and donations/tributes
    • Assist with updating the Website and membership directory
    • Financial tasks such as accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable
    • Order and inventory of kitchen supplies and office supplies
    • Creation and copy editing of weekly newsletter as well as program flyers
  • Manage the part-time custodian and vendors who service and care for the synagogue’s building and grounds
  • Attend Board meetings and Planning meetings as necessary to oversee program coordination

 

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience as an administrative assistant, office manager, or in an operations role
  • Knowledgeable of Windows and Google Suite
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, multitask, problem solve and prioritize daily workload
  • Ability to build relationships with congregants, colleagues, and community leaders
