Job Description

 

POSITIONS SUMMARY – Water Commissioning Specialist

 

Based in Calgary and reporting to the Manager Engineering, the Water Commissioning Specialist will support the Field Services team on installation and commissioning of produced water equipment for Exterran projects. The Commissioning Specialist will also manage and conduct water characterization studies for clients to assist in selection of optimized process / equipment selections to treat client water.  Additionally, this position provides engineering support for R&D projects and new product development activities in prototype and pilot builds of new equipment. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Participate as member of the Water Solutions Field Services team for equipment start-up and commissioning for projects; international travel required
  • Conduct water characterization studies, including data collection and technical report writing
  • Provide support to R&D team for client lab trials and field pilot testing
  • Consult and assist clients in optimization of water treatment equipment and processes
  • Support Water contract operations team in fine-tuning water process conditions to meet optimal performance for client and minimize operational costs for Exterran
  • Develop Commissioning Plans and Procedures; customize plans as required for client deployments
  • Manage scheduling of Water Solutions commissioning and start-up projects
  • Train and mentor Water Field Operators
  • As required, support water plant start-up and operations
  • Trouble-shoot equipment problems; assist in identifying root cause
  • Maintain filed services equipment and calibration as required
  • Provide training to field operations staff on Exterran Water Solutions
  • Prepare prototypes for Build and Testing, conducting the testing and preparing a written or electronic report on test results
  • Required to travel up to 75% of time to international site locations outside of Canada; hardship pay according to Exterran Corporate Policy

 

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

 

  • Demonstrated Mechanical Aptitude

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision

  • Strong technical writing skills and data analysis skills

  • Excellent impersonal skills; especially with managing field operations communications

  • Able to multi-task different projects / assignments

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Ability to read drawings ( P&IDs, GAs and PFDs)

  • Computer skills, specifically regarding Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project is an asset

 

 
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - SKILLS

 

  • B.Sc. Chemical Engineering preferred
  • 5 -7 years experience in a Field Commissioning
  • Plant Start-Up and Operations experience asset
  • Understanding of product water treatment
  • Understanding of reservoir water chemistry
  • Knowledge of chemical treatment and lab analysis
  • Mechanical assembly & fabrication experience

  • Knowledge of centrifugal pumps an asset
