Job Description

A Menards System Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, support and ongoing enhancement of Menard, Inc’s Application Infrastructure. This Application Infrastructure includes Apache Tomcat, Apache Web Server, DynaTrace One, Splunk, and other solutions. The System Administrator Level I’s role is to plan, design, launch and support efficient and secure information systems and operations systems in support of core organizational functions. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Applicants must have experience supporting mission-critical network environments maximizing system uptime and productivity.  Candidates must be able to work in a secure, mission-critical production-computing environment.  The position will be responsible for help ensuring the day-to-day health of the enterprise servers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Application Support:

  • Assist in the deployment and ongoing administration of new and existing applications, Apache Tomcat, Java Application Servers, Application Performance Management Solutions, and Splunk.
  • Design, install, and configure standalone Java Application Servers server instances
  • Design, install, and configure clustered Java Application and Web server instances
  • Assist database administrators, programmers, and Team Leaders in the deployment and performance analysis of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.

 

Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor or Associates degree in Computer Science, Network or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills
  • Excellent performance management skills; interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills; and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
  • Ability to successfully negotiate with vendors to provide service to the corporation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, cooperate with others.

  • Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work.
  • May be required to work overtime, carry cell phone/pager, and provide on call support, including weekends and holidays.
