Job Description

The Server & Storage Administrator Intern is responsible for assisting in the minor day-to-day administration; support and ongoing enhancement of Menards’s server systems. Applicants will need to have the ability to communicate and work well with others in a team environment. Candidates must be able to work in a secure, mission-critical production-computing environment and will be responsible for assisting the Windows Server System Administrators.


The schedule for this position is flexible and we work with your school schedule! The position requires 15-20 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.


  • Investigate, resolve, and document any problems
  • Install new patches/upgrades in development and test systems as needed
  • Support server hardware and software, including Windows and Linux/Unix based servers and server applications both physical and in a virtualization environment
  • Support high availability solutions through clustering
  • Work with cloud based solutions
  • Support storage using a SAN
  • Research solutions, develop operational programs & scripts, and implement the final solution after approval
  • Maintain information confidentiality and security
  • Protect and prevent unauthorized attempts to obtain corporate information
  • Perform systems audits to identify security breaches or potential security loopholes
  • Report all unauthorized incidents to the management
Skills & Requirements
  • Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Networking, Communications Technology (Candidates must be enrolled in a College/University)
  • Excellent performance interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills; and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a group
  • Must be able to work 15 - 20 hours per week between the hours of 8A - 5P Monday - Friday
  • This internship is part-time and runs until you graduate
  • Must work within normal office hours at the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI (remote work is not offered)
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, presently and in the future, without sponsorship
