Position Summary

The QA Engineer I is an entry-level role responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining manual and automated tests while learning best practices in software quality assurance. This position works closely with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to ensure high-quality software releases.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Software Manual & Functional Testing

  • Design functional and regression tests that effectively verify system behavior and software changes.
  • Execute test cases and accurately document results, noting any deviations from expected outcomes.
  • Log clear, detailed defect reports that communicate issues effectively to development teams.
  • Create and maintain test plans aligned with scheduled software releases.
  • Maintain regression test suites to ensure ongoing accuracy and relevance.
  • Prepare and maintain test data required for execution.
  • Assist in coordination and communication of testing activities, results, and risks with development and QA partners to support shared understanding of quality status.
  • Follow QA standards, processes, and best practices in all aspects of testing.
  • Develop proficiency with manual testing tools such as Tricentis qTest.

Software Automation Testing

  • Assist in developing and maintaining automated tests validate functionality and excellent coverage.
  • Execute automated tests and clearly communicate results with development and QA partners.
  • Analyze automation test failures, identify potential causes, and support resolution efforts under supervision.
  • Collaborate with QA Engineers II and III to determine automation priorities and coverage.
  • Develop proficiency with Tricentis Tosca, QFTest, and other automation tools.

QA Team Engagement & Support

  • Participate in reviews and discussions to identify opportunities for process and quality improvement.
  • Contribute to QA documentation, test repositories, and team process improvements.
  • Follow through on other duties assigned by QA management.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; or 1–2 years of experience in software testing or related QA activities.
  • Familiarity with software testing fundamentals and defect tracking tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret functional requirements and translate them into test scenarios.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to learn test automation and CI/CD integration best practices.
  • Familiarity with Tricentis tools (qTest, Tosca, Neoload) and QFTest preferred.
  • Must work within designated normal office hours and be available for overtime or weekend work as needed.
