Position Purpose

As a Market Analyst at Advicent, you will assist Product Management with information gathering, research and analysis to be used when bringing new capabilities for the market. This includes performing deep dive investigation on critical subject areas and then reporting back to stakeholders with informed guidance that will shape product requirements and go-to-market planning in a manner that will allow Advicent to deliver best in class business solutions to our partners.

This position is work-from-home with occasional travel requirements to Milwaukee, WI, USA for training and development.

What you’re accountable for
  • Assisting Product Management & Market Research teams with business case development and roadmap planning.
    • Research features, functions and capabilities of the Canadian financial planning market that are essential to delivering a best in class experience for our partners, advisors and their clients.
    • Keep current on industry and technology trends including but not limited to tax code updates and regulatory changes, and share this information with the Business Analyst team.
    • Assist product management to understand how industry trends, competitive headwinds, and adjacent market dynamics impact the advisor experience using Advicent products.
    • Leading product feature discussions with users of the software in conference settings, tradeshows, and other industry events and one-on-one settings.
    • Communicate project information to internal stakeholders (Product Director, management) ensuring the business and user needs driving the release are understood and prioritized appropriately.
  • Gather and possess knowledge of competitors as applicable by product to help identify opportunities and threats.
  • Identify project impacts to internal business processes and strategic initiatives, not just the current project plan.
  • Effectively communicate (verbal and written) and interact professionally with all members of project teams building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (customers, project team, PSO department, management).
  • Present requirements using a variety of techniques as appropriate.
  • Assist with vendor and tool analysis to recommend new technology solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong prioritization skills and ability to multi-task between multiple projects.
  • Work as a liaison between technical and business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to Advicent products and business processes.
  • Collaborate with both the product development team, business units, and customers to translate business requirements into artifacts used to drive conceptual designs and development of application solutions.
  • Support all of the functions of the Business Analyst position including participating in development projects as a business analyst when needed.
What skills are required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information science, information systems, or related area, or equivalent experience in a Business Analyst role
  • At least 2 plus years of experience in a Business Analyst role with various types of projects resulting in success.
  • Finance industry experience preferable
  • Strong interviewing, analytical, and facilitation skills
  • Solid understanding of all phases of the software development cycle
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of requirements gathering best practices
  • Ability to actively listen to business needs and translate them into specifications for customers in the insurance industry
  • Excellent oral communications and interpersonal skills and a strong desire to learn and grow, both professionally and personally in ways that will enhance job performance
  • Familiarity with the .NET application development platform and project management skills, a plus
  • Familiarity with SCRM Agile development practices is a plus.
