IT Support Specialist

Position Purpose

As an IT Support Specialist at Advicent, you will administer and support desktop, mobile, and network computing technology for the business, provide first level response for technology requests, and serve as a liaison between employees and technical escalation teams to resolve issues. 

What you’re accountable for

  • Install, configure, and administer desktop operating systems and applications.
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to support requests.
  • Maintain and document technical procedures and knowledge base items.
  • Troubleshoot desktop applications, hardware, network, and connectivity issues.
  • Support network and locally attached printers and peripherals.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades as needed by the business.
  • Setup and manage computers, phones, Active Directory accounts and groups.
  • Use help desk ticketing system to track IT tasks and respond to end user’s requests.
  • Help system administrators support network applications and servers.
  • Administer basic functions of Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016.
  • Perform periodic technical audit functions for employee account provisioning.
  • Assist the security team in maintaining and improving the security posture of the organization.

What skills are required

  • 2 or 4-year college degree in information systems, computer science,plus one year of relevant work experience supporting a Microsoft desktop environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Friendly demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Can demonstrate high-level organizational skills and problem solving.
  • Have an understanding of desktop technologies and network design.
  • Understand workstation provisioning and deployment technologies.
  • Know how virtualization technologies operate in a data center.
  • Professional certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple requests.
