Instructional Designer

Position Purpose As an Instructional Designer at Advicent, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of learning materials, including online courses, technical documents, and training programs. What you’re accountable for
  • Propose designs and help develop training programs, learning activities, course content and supporting materials for Advicent customers.
  •  Write, edit and format documentation and materials as needed for each program including: user manuals, storyboards, product guides, help documentation, embedded user assistance, tutorials, webinars, videos and other training media as needed.
  •  Extract product information, including specifications and practical applications through interaction with business analysts, product owners, partner support representatives, partner experience managers, quality assurance team and/or developers
  • Help develop and maintain technical documentation along with supporting materials relating to Advicent applications.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of learning programs through surveys, interviews and analysis with internal and external stakeholders.
  •  Collaborate with other departments and SME’s via professional communication channels to build relationships, meet project timelines and create materials.
  • Deliver on all stages of a project from start-up to finish within the established timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects to successful completion.
  • Assist in establishing instructional design and learning development standards for all existing and future learning materials that support continued quality, speed of delivery, and learning reinforcement.
  • Participate in all aspects of the instructional design process – analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate.
  • Actively pursue self-development activities to stay abreast instructional design trends. 
What skills are required
  • BS/BA in business, instructional design, adult education or related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of previous experience in instructional design, technical writing in the computer software industry, or developing and publishing training or procedural information.
  • Proficiency in utilizing instructional design methodologies and adult learning theories.
  • Proficiency working with .SCORM files in Articulate 360, Captivate, or similar course authoring tool.
  • Proven ability to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop detailed storyboards, scripts and building online learning courseware.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Conceptual and strategic thinker, team player, and ability to present to varying audiences.
  • The desire to improve processes and grow into additional responsibilities.
  • Experience in software or financial industries is a plus.
