Job Description

Reporting to the Controller, the Clinical Studies and Operations Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for the clinical accrual process and will be also be a key team player in the implementation of various systems and updating and improving internal controls to meet SOX compliance requirements. This position will also provide support to the Corporate Controller and Associate Director of Financial Planning and Analysis on various special projects.

• Manage all aspects of clinical expense and accrual accounting from designing accounting models to projecting study related costs and ensuring accrual estimates are supported by reasonable methodologies. Act as the key interface and representative from accounting with the clinical department and various study CRO’s. The manager must thoroughly understand the studies and its current status, as well as gather data required for accruals and be able to explain variances from budgets and forecasts and quarter to quarter changes in the accrual to the external auditors.

• Provide financial analysis support to the clinical operations team • Assist in the preparation of the Clinical Budget

• Assist in system implementation of Sage 300 ERP accounting system and Stock Options systems.

• Involvement in development of Company’s internal controls and assistance in SOX compliance.

• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required by the Corporate Controller and Associate Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

Skills & Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience Minimum Requirements:

• Biotech industry experience is a must. Experience in clinical trial accounting and accruals required.

• CPA - Public Accounting experience preferred

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance

• 7 to 10 years of growing responsibility experience in accounting / finance (public company experience is a plus)

• Ability to work independently and multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines • Excellent Excel/spreadsheet skills, competency with MSWord and PowerPoint

• Able to embrace flexibility in assignments and the work environment.

• Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, especially under the pressure of month-end close • Advanced/Intermediate system skills

• Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal skills
