Job Description

WRT is growing and looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Landscape Planner with a focus on resilience to join our studio in San Francisco.

We are looking for a landscape planner with passion and relevant skills for community resilience, environmental/climate science, equitable park and recreation planning, and large-scale open space conservation to join our collaborative practice.

What is a landscape planner at WRT?

We define a landscape planner as a professional with an interest and foundational understanding of the benefits of parks and open space and the landscape processes that impact our built environment. This role collaborates across disciplines in the firm and with our partners, helping to translate data and analysis to inform implementable planning and design concepts. Project types include community resilience planning, shoreline adaptation, park and trail systems planning, and park design that balances multiple benefits for communities and the natural realm. Passion for positive impact, growth mindset, and strong graphic and written communication skills are needed to develop technically accurate analyses, authentic community engagement materials, and thoughtful planning documents.

Pay Range: $77K - $82K

Skills & Requirements

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate and/or advanced degrees in landscape architecture, city planning, and/or related environmental sciences.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong and clear graphic, written, and verbal communication.
  • Advanced in technical and graphic software platforms including Adobe CC, ArcGIS analysis tools.
  • General understanding of the latest climate science, and familiarity with sea level rise planning and regulation (California and/or elsewhere) is a plus.
  • General understanding of ecosystem functions and threats, across geographies from coastal and estuarine environments to high country and the wildland/urban interface.
  • Passion for helping local communities plan for a resilient, ecologically and socially equitable future.
  • Familiarity with the intersection of social and ecological issues such as public health, equity, access to open space, and green infrastructure.
  • Desire to contribute to a collaborative studio environment.

Compensation & Benefits Include*:

  • The expected pay range for this position is $77K - $82K annually, dependent upon education, skills, experience, skillset
