Position Summary:

Our client, a dynamic Milwaukee based manufacturer, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III who develops and analyzes new or existing gas system designs to meet product specifications while considering feasibility of operation, manufacturing and application.  The Mechanical Engineer III will ensure products continually meet or exceed customer & market needs, agency & compliance requirements, manufacturing continuous improvement, and cost savings initiatives.  This innovative Engineer will be focused on refreshing existing product platforms and creating new product concepts and ideas.  This will be an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to have a major impact and to utilize their expertise and gas systems to put their “stamp” on products that will drive future growth of the company. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conceptualize, and create innovative gas system designs for new products or updates to existing products with a focus on quality, cost, manufacturability, product performance and agency compliance.

  • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new gas system designs or updates to existing products.  Clearly document results and recommendations for product & process improvement.

  • Coordinate pilot builds for testing and customer field trials throughout the NPD process.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work, including the use of Virtual Analysis (FEA, CFD, etc.)

  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and cross functional teams to execute project deliverables, and work with suppliers and contractors.

  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.

  • Ensure adherence to the New Product Development process, project timelines are met, projects stay within budget and on target for product performance and cost.

  • Possess awareness of intellectual property requirements related to both infringement and protection of intellectual property.


Skills & Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field

  • 5 years of experience working in commercial gas systems engineering 

  • Proficient in gas systems designs and calculations (involving systems with water, steam, grease).  Power burner and draft induced systems (positive and negative pressures).

  • Ability to apply advanced engineering principles and statistics to solve problems.

  • Proficient in using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

  • Understanding of Agency and Certification Standards, such as UL, Energy Star, ASTM, etc.

  • Commercial awareness, including understanding of target users and market requirements.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both verbal and written formats.

  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (word, excel, access, outlook)
