Job Description

The Plant Operations Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team!

The Maintenance Mechanic position is vital for maintaining the functionality of our facilities and equipment. Key responsibilities typically include:

  • ·         Performing inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and systems.
  • ·         Replacing a retired maintenance mechanic requires a new hire with a specific skillset and qualifications

Breakdown of the key requirements for this role: 

  • Mechanical Skills: This includes the ability to diagnose and repair machinery, understand mechanical systems, and work with various hand  and power tools. 
  •         Electrical Skills:Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical issues is essential. 
  • ·       Plumbing Skills:The ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems is also a valuable asset. 
  • ·       HVAC Knowledge:Understanding HVAC systems and their maintenance is important in many settings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

 

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Current NYC Fire Department Certificates of Fitness
  • HS/GED required
  • Two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical, plumbing, electrical and strong troubleshooting skills are required.
