Job Description

Seeking a highly motivated individual with a mechanical engineering background with 3-8 years experience to fill a full-time position for the spring of 2019.  Most of the work will be submarine equipment and/or UUV related. The candidate is eager to contribute, and capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.  The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team consisting of mechanical, electrical, and software/firmware engineers.  As we will benefit from your assistance on projects, you will benefit from gaining valuable work experience, while reinforcing and expanding your skill set. 


Duties and Responsibilities 

• Assist with the mechanical design and development of various hardware and systems
• Perform component and system level analyses, including but not limited to structural and thermal, to support architectural and design decisions.
• Assist in developing conceptual designs of hardware and systems, and documenting mechanical performance requirements.
• Perform hands-on mechanical assistance in hardware assembly and check-out
• Integrate, test, and troubleshoot hardware
• Generate design and interface documentation
• Document and present trade studies, analyses, test results, status, etc. to the team




Skills & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
• Experience with Solidworks and other engineering tools
• Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging
• Knowledge of fabrication processes
• Experience with ASME Y14.100 drawing standards is highly desirable
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
• Familiarity with Navy environmental qualification test standards (MIL-S-901 and MIL-STD-167)
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Understanding of version control systems



• BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree
• 3-8 years mechanical engineering experience



This position may require the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
