Progeny Systems Corporation is a privately-held, high-tech small business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients. Progeny Systems Corporation is looking for a highly motivated, mid/senior level engineer (5-15 years) to support development and delivery of critical systems for the US Navy. Must possess excellent verbal and written communications, and be a fast learner.  Must be a self-starter who works well with minimal direction or supervision in a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Provides support to the Submarine Payload Control System (PCS) Integration and Test (I&T) engineers as well as the System Engineering Team for the conduct of PCS testing and Integrated Logistics documentation development. Success in this position requires an assertive, professional, and confident attitude, with the ability to interact with other engineering groups within Progeny, as well as outside activities to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret requirements and develop tests to satisfy those requirements. Identifies functional problems and suggests resolutions. Candidate will work in a fast-paced integrated product development team that includes representatives from multiple contracting organizations and DoD entities. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Writing, editing and managing technical documentation for the creation of operator/maintenance Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) to include operation/maintenance procedures, troubleshooting and fault isolation procedures, functional descriptions, and physical description and development.
  • Writing and managing technical source data for incorporation into an IETM
  • Writing and managing training curriculum for military personnel.
  • Coordinating all ILS-related deliveries to program partners and military personnel.
  • Performing operational testing of procedures prior to integration into the IETM.
  • Making recommendations to make the system indicators, alerts, and displays more efficient and useful for the operator.
  • Attending and participating in all team meetings.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop thorough and technically-accurate operations and maintenance products
  • Assist in performing test and analysis
  • Debug tests and procedures
  • Perform logical validation process of failures
  • Identify, analyze, and document software and hardware defects and work with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues
  • Develop system notes to support software and hardware defect
  • Can transform knowledge found in engineering documentation and distill it down to what the equipment users need to know to operate and maintain the PCS
  • Develops Factory Operations and Maintenance training
  • Develops operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and installation procedure

The ideal candidate will have at least 5-10 years Submarine network based (AN/BYG-1 preferred or AN/BQQ-10) experience or similar experience in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.  Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.  Some travel required to support test events and documentation validation events occurring in various partner & government labs.

  • Knowledge of network configurations and operations is required
  • Knowledge of Navy 3M programs
  • Knowledge of IETM and Training Development
  • Navy or Submarine experience is a plus


5-10 Years relevant experience with the above tasks.

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.

Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions: 
Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times 
Effectively communicate with others
Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
