Job Description

Full-time position working out of Progeny Systems headquarters in Manassas, VA. Progeny is the lead system integrator for the Undersea Warfare Decision Support System (USW-DSS) supporting technology insertion as well as development, integration, training and maintenance.  USW-DSS is a DoD Net-Centric Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) program which provides anti-submarine warfare mission planning and monitoring for US Navy fleet units

The candidate will be working with a multi-organizational engineering team to achieve rapid technology evolution utilizing continuous integration and continuous deployment methods.

Daily responsibilities will include, integration of new capabilities and fixes, independent validation and verification of operational and functional requirements.  The candidate should be highly skilled in troubleshooting and problem resolution.

 

Areas of responsibility include:

o   Lead the integration of software components, across multiple operating systems (Windows and Linux), hardware configurations (physical and virtual, including networking) and software packages (Java, C++, web services, application servers)

o   Assess and support system maturation through agile processes, including:

o   requirements based and operational testing,

o   troubleshoot issues and support review board assessment and adjudication, 

o   review and validation of bug/improvement pull requests,

o   maintain a maturing stable system baseline,

o   keep management team informed including weekly baseline status reports and live status dashboard

o   Creation, verification and validation of testing documentation and plans

o   Understanding of the components, sub-systems and the architecture as a whole

o   Coordinate and interact with development teams as well as engineering managers.

o   Support the development of training materials and technical manuals

Skills & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requirements:

o   Demonstrated system integration skills, including the ability to lead and motivate teams.

o   Fluent in agile DevOps processes.

o   Experience with virtualization technologies

o   Must be willing to travel occasionally

o   Ability to obtain DOD Security clearance

o   Strong oral and written communication skills

 

Desired Skills:

o   Familiarity with Navy Systems and environments.

o   Familiarity with DoD Cybersecurity requirements

o   Proficiency with scripting and automation, e.g. bash, PowerShell, python, and Ansible

o   Experience with system resource profiling and source level debugging

o   Proficiency with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)

o   Experience with Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Maven, Ant

o   Experience with C4I systems

o   Current Secret clearance

 

Education/Experience

o   10+ years of professional experience

o   BS or higher in a technical major. Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. Demonstrated history as an accomplished system integrator will be considered in lieu of education. Commensurate pay for years of experience.

 

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
