Job Description

Progeny Systems Corporation is seeking a Mid-level Test Engineer to join the team responsible for the design, development, production, integration and life cycle support of the active sonar Transmit Group (TG) onboard U.S. Navy submarines. Active sonar Transmit Group equipment produces the high energy pulses of sound that travel through the water and used to identify targets of interest. The TG team works with the Navy, internal production staff, and representatives from other companies that provide companion systems and services to ensure TG systems meet all requirements, are delivered on time and function properly both in a laboratory environment and onboard U.S. Navy submarines.  Technical experience in power systems and/or analog electronics is preferred but not required. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Participate in the development of test criteria hardware design of test systems

·        Assist in the development of new test engineering documentation such as test system certification test plans, regression testing plans, test procedures, and test reports

·        Troubleshoot and resolve Transmit Group hardware issues in the test, production, and power lab environments

·        Electronics testing and test set development

·        Conduct informal and formal tests as required to validate all planned testable requirements

·        Provide input to technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications which explain issues to the program management and Navy customer team

·        Work with Development, System Engineering, and Production teams to accurately identify, characterize, resolve, document, and track hardware deficiencies.

Skills & Requirements

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates should have technical acumen, an educational background, and expertise analog and power system testing and test set design.  Digital test and test set design preferred, but not required.

·        Hardware test engineer experience required

·   Strong written and oral communication skills.

·        Have hardware or system engineering experience related to test systems

·        Travel may be required as part of this position, but not on a regular basis

·        Overtime may be required as part of this position as needs arise

·        Experience with LabView a plus

·        Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance

Successful candidates will be reliable, motivated and be able to work effectively individually or as part of a team.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

·        B.S. degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) is required

·        5+ years of test engineering experience preferred

Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions: 
Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times 
Effectively communicate with others
Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail. 
Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
