The Structured Eagle Block (SEB) Specialist fosters positive student relationships to support the development of essential executive functioning skills to complete their coursework. By practicing active listening and genuine care, the Specialist manages a productive environment for individual and collaborative work while coaching students in task initiation, time management, and self-advocacy. In consultation with counselors and the Learning Support team, the Specialist attends Student Support and PLC meetings to align on student needs. As a vital member of the support network, this role maintains constant communication with teachers and internal SAS math tutors to ensure students stay on track and meet their academic responsibilities.
This position is expected to commence in July 2026.
Main Responsibilities:
- Promote impactful school culture by developing positive interpersonal relationships with students and staff.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and math tutors to provide students’ with the individualized support they need.
- Guide students in building and applying core executive functioning skills—such as task initiation, organization, and time management—to ensure coursework is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Work with students to set personal academic goals and regularly check in on their progress and study habits.
- Teach students how to self-advocate with their teachers, ask for help, and use teacher comments to do better on their next test or project.
- Identify and refer students who may require more intensive or specialized support if they may lack academic skills.
- Collect and reflect on feedback from students to make improvements to practices in Structured Eagle Block
- Consistently communicate with individual teachers to better understand curricular expectations for students in Structured Eagle Block.
- Collect and analyze data to detect frequencies of enrollment in Structured Eagle Block by course and teacher to help anticipate student needs.
- Gather data on student demographics and trends such as grade level, gender, repeat enrollments, learning support students and students who self-enrolled into Structured Eagle Block.
- Proctor exams and coordinate tests/assessments during end-of semester exams or as needed
- When needed, meet with the Learning Support PLC in order to better understand supervised students’ expected learning targets and assessments.
- When needed, attend Student Support Meetings meetings with counselors and teachers to build support systems for at-risk students.
