Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a part-time Lab Assistant in the Cosmetology / Barbering Program for our Walton County Campus in Monroe, Georgia. The candidate will report directly to the Program Chair Cosmetology Program, which is aligned under the Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Division.

The successful applicant will be expected to implement course materials that support stated initiatives and use appropriate techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for each course offered.

Responsibilities:

Applicants must be available assist for day and evening classes. This position requires using appropriate hands on teaching, simulated State Board assessments, and grading techniques; demonstrating current knowledge of the subject area; using effective written and oral communication skills; maintaining educational records; using technology appropriate to the subject taught; and evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. The candidate may be required to commute to the other satellite campus locations (Elbert, Greene and Walton) for assisting classes, as well as for other college related business matters

Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold a current Georgia Master Barber license.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in the Cosmetology industry.
  • Active participation in appropriate professional/ and or occupational organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be available to assist day classes and/or a night class.
  • Must meet minimum qualifications, mentioned above.
  • Experience with TCSG Cosmetology programs.
  • Experience with a diverse clientele including services such as; Shaving, barber cutting techniques, wet hairstyling, color, permanent waving, Relaxers, Smoothing Treatments and skin care.
  • Knowledge with NIC licensure exams.
