Full-time Job Announcement

Position: Human Resources/Payroll Specialist

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  •  Greets and answer questions for current and prospective employees.
  • Process and manage all aspects of the payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verifies and enters personnel transactions for hourly and adjunct employees.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to HR and payroll matters.
  • Transfers, scans, and indexes human resources and payroll reports.
  • Works in a collaborative effort with faculty and staff to ensure the Human Resources department has adjunct faculty letters of agreement each semester.
  • Creates and maintain Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Prepare letters utilizing Microsoft Word.
  • Assists in onboarding new hires and conducting orientation sessions with federal work-study students.
  • Responsible for checking the time & labor system daily to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs general clerical duties such as answering the phone, maintaining files, and other related duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent *and* one (1) year of related experience.

**Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.**

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with managing Time and Labor processing systems.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven work experience with payroll systems and/or experience within institutions of higher education, which includes demonstrated direct responsibility for entering and submitting payroll.
