Position: Air Conditioning Technology Instructor

Location: All Campuses

Department: Division of Business, Industry, & Technology

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, instruct students in Air Conditioning Technology skill areas.
  • Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Responds in a timely manner to administrative requests.
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication.
  • Contributes to the writing of accreditation and assessment reports
  • Demonstrates general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology from an accredited college or technical institution.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to Air Conditioning Technology.
  • Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Air Conditioning Technology OR Associate’s Degree in any field and Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology from an accredited college or technical institution;
  • Valid EPA 608 certification and NATE Certification.
  • Current Georgia Conditioned Air License.
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi systems and variable speed drive systems.
  • Refrigeration experience.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience within the last seven (7) years in a position related to Air Conditioning Technology.
  • Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Previous online teaching or training experience, including the use of video capture tools.
