Job Description

Internists and Family Practice Physicians are encouraged to consider an available part-time Primary Care Physician position with Liberty Healthcare at the C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center in Columbia, SC.

In this role you would be responsible for:

  • Working a flexible part-time schedule between 16 and 24 total hours weekly
  • Providing primary care to a caseload of nursing home patients
  • Conducting medical examinations, performing diagnostic tests, providing preventive care, developing and managing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases, and prescribing medications
  • Providing health education to ancillary staff as well as patients’ families and guardians
  • Collaborating with members of the nursing home’s multidisciplinary treatment team and participating in resident care meetings

Liberty’s physicians are paid well. Income is fixed and not dependent upon patient volume or insurance billing. You will have the ability to spend ample time with your small and stable caseload of patients – to ensure they receive quality care. There are no after-hours and no on-call responsibilities. 

Skills & Requirements

You’re a good fit for this position if you are licensed as a Medical Doctor or Osteopathic Physician in South Carolina, and you successfully completed an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency training program. 

Board Certification is a plus but not required. Proficiency in diagnosing, treating and managing a wide array of medical conditions and diseases is essential, and you should also be comfortable practicing in a multi-disciplinary environment and serving older adults.
