Liberty Healthcare is now accepting applications for a full-time Psych Tech position with our organization’s newest forensic mental health program.

This new program will exclusively serve people who have recently been determined to be incompetent to stand trial due to their mental illness.

The goal of this program is to provide rapid mental health services to people in need - so they may achieve improved behavioral health outcomes as quickly as possible. 

The program is designed to facilitate early access to services, eliminate barriers to treatment, and restore people to competency as quickly as possible.

Services will be provided to clients who are adult inmates of the San Diego Central Jail as well as other nearby San Diego County jail facilities.

As a Psychiatric Technician with Liberty, you enjoy an array of responsibilities, including:

  • Providing care within scope of licensure to clients one-to-one and in-person within a jail setting
  • Providing health education and limited counseling services to clients
  • Documenting health status and treatment progress
  • Participating in clinical team meetings
  • Consulting and collaborating with clinical and security staff
  • Helping to ensure program clients receive high quality mental health services

This position will require you to work onsite at the San Diego Central Jail in downtown San Diego.

You have the option of working one of the following shifts:

  • 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Your work schedule will be comprised of five 8-hour workdays each week - and require you to work every other weekend.

Skills & Requirements

You are a good fit for this position if you are licensed professionally in California as a Psychiatric Technician.  An entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work autonomously are essential.
