Psychiatrists are encouraged to consider an available full-time position on the medical staff of the Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta, Maine.

With the support of a talented multidisciplinary team, you will provide inpatient psychiatric care to a small caseload of adult patients who are experiencing serious mental illness. 

High quality patient care and positive clinical outcomes will be your priorities. You will practice in an environment void of managed care influence, free of productivity quotas, and without incentives to discharge patients prematurely. You will have the freedom to spend ample time with your patients to ensure they attain improved mental health.

The Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. The hospital is operated by the State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services and selected clinicians at the hospital work through a collaborative long-term agreement with Liberty Healthcare.

Skills & Requirements

You're a good fit for this position if you possess the following attributes:

  • Residency training and/or Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Maine (or wiling to apply for a Maine medical license)
  • Compassion and commitment to providing high quality psychiatric care to people who are living with serious mental illness
