Liberty Healthcare seeks applicants for a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology at the Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment & Detention Facility located in Rushville, Illinois.
The Treatment & Detention Facility is a state-of-the-art secure residential treatment facility which provides a wide array of mental health services to over 500 detained and civilly committed adult sexual offenders.
Clinical services at the facility are provided by Liberty Healthcare’s dedicated and talented team which is comprised of over forty Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Professional Counselors, Psychiatrists and Recreation Therapists.
The Facility is located in the town of Rushville in west central Illinois. Rushville is commutable from Macomb (home of Western Illinois University) and Springfield (the State Capital). Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and the Quad Cities are all within a few hours drive.
This is a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship which commences in August 2025 and concludes in August 2026. At the completion of the one-year program, Fellows will be considered for continued employment with Liberty Healthcare and any available Clinical Staff positions.
Clinical duties include co-facilitating sex offender specific group treatment (approximately 15 hours per week), managing a primary caseload of approximately 15 residents, including treatment planning and case conceptualizing. However, the primary caseload is not individual therapy but involves case management tasks, with the Resident being seen on an as needed basis. Post-doctoral Fellows are also responsible for completing a minimum of six in-depth psychological batteries during the training year, as well as few cognitive assessments. All Post-doctoral Fellows also receive a minimum of two hours of licensed supervision each week, one from the Director of Training & Research and another from a Licensed Psychologist on staff.
Our program offers extensive training in working with civilly committed sexual offenders. Fellows engage in a two week orientation to the program and them a minimum of one week observing therapy groups before co-facilitating a group. In addition all groups that Fellows are involved with are co-facilitated with a seasoned therapist throughout the year. Experience with sexual offenders is not necessary for being a Fellow in our program. Further, experience with the Rorschach is preferred, but it is not necessary to be a Fellow in our program. Intensive group treatment of Sexually Violent Persons. Liberty Health Care utilizes a co-therapist model of research-driven, cognitive behavioral treatment for sexual offending. Fellows will have the opportunity to learn sexual offender treatment utilizing live supervision and mentor-ship from experienced sexual offender treatment clinicians.

Primary therapist responsibilities with sexual offender population including individualized treatment planning and support.

Administering, scoring and interpreting psychological tests and writing comprehensive psychological evaluations for offenders entering sex-offender treatment.

Twice a Week Didactic Seminars
This is a full-time position offering an annual stipend of $55,000. As an employee of Liberty Healthcare, you will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package which includes 180 hours (22.5 eight-hour days) of paid time off, medical and dental insurance as well as other benefits. Fellows will work standard 40-hour workweeks, Monday through Friday.
